Abstract

Most common cause of direct carotid cavernous fistula is facial trauma. However, there have been some reports that demonstrated that direct carotid cavernous fistula was caused by a cavernous internal carotid artery aneurysm rupture. Herein, we report a rare case of iatrogenic carotid cavernous fistula caused by aneurysm rupture during endovascular treatment of unruptured anterior choroidal artery aneurysm causing oculomotor nerve palsy in systemic lupus erythematosus patient. Oculomotor nerve palsy is a well?known cranial nerve palsy of symptomatic unruptured intracranial aneurysms of the posterior communicating artery.
